Village meeting to discuss bringing back the village Gala – Thursday 30th March at Spread Eagle 7:30pm

The last village Gala we had was in 2019. A group of interested people in the village  would like to bring it back in some form or other on August 28th (Bank Holiday). If this is going to happen we will need a lot of help from people and groups within the village.

There is an open meeting on Thursday 30th March at 7:30pm at the Spread Eagle (not Rolleston Club as was previously advised) to see if there is enough support for this. Please come along if you are able.

Footpath 14 given a facelift!

The Parish Council is delighted to report that work has been completed on upgrading the Tafflands end of footpath 14. Thanks to the Transforming the Trent Valley Landscape Partnership Scheme and Staffordshire Wildlife Trust who provided the grant to enable the work to be completed. This work should make a huge difference to a much used footpath.

Update on silt removal from the lake in Brook Hollows – work commences Monday 13th March 2023

Transforming the Trent Valley is undertaking silt removal from the lake in Brook Hollows from Monday 13th March. It is anticipated that the work will take 2-3 weeks to complete. Our contractors will be accessing the site from the adjacent field, but there will be environmental controls on the lake including a silt screen across the waterfall. These measures are to protect fish and prevent silt from washing downstream.
There will be some disruption whilst the work is carried out. Please take care when visiting the site, observe any notices and keep dogs under close control.
Kind regards
Louise Morris
